Stumbling upon a dusty relic, the player discovers an ancient scroll sealed inside, containing a world of landscapes, creatures, and myths. The player revives these mystic creatures and builds them a home. In return, they travel between the outside world and the scrolls, obliging the players with resources, revealing hidden secrets, and ranging on adventures.
Scrollden is a casual homebuilding and management sim inspired by fantastic creatures in Chinese mythologies. It's a 2D game built in a 3D world. Realizing the significant part our background story plays in distinguishing our games, we incorporated the gameplay into the narratives so that the player could feel the meaning of their actions. Although we're limiting the information offered in the game(few people have the patience to read the novella in a base-building game), we've carefully knitted the plots into the game world and crafted each character as introductions to a new chapter to allow the players to form an intimate relationship with the mystic creatures. Our game offers all the critical aspects of a building game, with enhanced features and a unique building mechanism. The players need to combine puzzle pieces of different materials according to a vague silhouette to build new furniture that makes logical sense. For example, an axe is constructed with stone and a wooden stick tied up by strings. We use a map with locked areas to help the players keep track of the plots and the players' progress. We have showcased earlier versions and prototypes at the Game Developers Conference, EGD Waffle Games, Gamera Games, Playtest Thursdays, and Gumbo Games. We are aiming for a full release in early 2025!
